FOOD DIARY: Sunday, March 24th A Seafood feast

We started our evening with another cocktail (very, very rare because Friday night is Party Night not Saturday but it was to celebrate the bounty of the sea–that’s good enough reason I think.)

Diane is the preeminent barkeep and her Marker’s Mark Manhattans are legendary.

Last night was a cracker!  We had three delicious Blue Swimmer crabs from our local monger and a dozen Franklin Harbour oysters from South Australia.  The crabs were local, probably from Mandarah here in Western Australia.

As is always the oysters were eaten on the half-shell and the crabs were simply cracked open, cleaned and then dipped in a little mayo sauce that Diane has been making for years: nothing could be finer!
