Not all experiments turn out well and even brilliant cooks like Diane must hit the wall of unsuccessful recipes and such was the case last night. Diane , in her search for new recipes, took an idea from a cooking magazine (something that she does not do very often.) The recipe was for a seafood pie, sort of a Shepherd Pie but for seafood. You have the idea: bake seafood with a little milk and some flavourings and then cover it with mash potatoes.
Initially it sounds like a good idea but the recipe called for too much potato covering and not enough liquid. I suppose it could be reworked but I do not think that mash potatoes goes well with seafood: in this case: salmon and prawns.
She served a luscious salad with the pie and we washed it down with a La Vendetta pinot grigio which made it all very nice.
