FOOD DIARY: A repeat of Pasta with Leek

Coupled with my having not been cooking and the fact that we have a new cooktop, I ended up messing even this terribly simple recipe for an accompaniment  to spaghetti.

I sauted the sliced leek last night with a little stock and thought that I had turned off the burner but Diane came in to put the pasta in the water and found that the flame was still on the leek which by then of course had fried rather than gently sauteed as I had intended.  I still ate the pasta with her on-the-spot corrections and it was good enough. 

The pasta with my salad and a bottle of Houghton’s White Classic made for a satisfying meal but I certainly will try not to repeat it in the future.
